What should I do as fertilizer?

So I have a question, I have pool filter sand in my tank so i need extra nutrients. I am not going to get root tabs cause they are to expensive for me, and another user suggested making my own with osmocote. I was wondering if this stuff is pretty much the same as osmocote and if i could use it? I just have a bag laying around already so I was just wondering.

I don't like that they have a significant "quick release" portion. Sounds potentially problematic given that one of the major components of terrestrial fertilizers is ammonium.

Ok, do you know were I could get cheap root tabs or osmocote for cheap?

I got my Osmocote from walmart but you can get it from home depot I think or other stores similar to that.

I also found I have some "Lily Miller Ultra Green All Purpose Fertilizer". Would this work in place of the panicked?

How would you "administer" those? And how often, and do they really work like other root tabs and suh

Just push them into the sub. I guess replace every few mths.
