I have a cichlid tank, 150 gal, running Sunsun filter wh-5000, substrate is caribsea Argonite sand after 2 months am getting white flakes when ever I do a filter clean, it shut off and start my pump, I have cleaned filter & hoses, the only thing I haven't cleaned is filter motor. Any ideas or help? Thanks

Sounds like calcium. What is the TDS of your water? Wouldnt hurt to pick up a liquid tester kit (Watch prices, this goes on sale for 14$ every now and then)

And then (or first) pick up a calcium tester- https://www.amazon.com/API-CALCIUM-Saltwater-Aquarium-1-Count/dp/B0006JDWHI/

You will want to know the parameters of your water that you use for your tank as this affects the fish you can keep. Some fish will like harder water, snail and shrimps like harder water, but some fish will struggle with it. Depends on the fish and water.

I think it's related to Caribsea aragonite sand, I spoke to tech support they are sending me something to clear it up, I have been using the same water in this house for 6 years with nothing like this, it has to be from the sand.. thanks everyone..
