White Star

I saw a white starfish like this one in the picture. It was scooting along my sand bed and then went into the rocks. He is about the size of a nickel. Does anyone know what kind of starfish this is and is it good or bad?

Asterina star most likely. Sand sifters don't crawl on rock.

They do get that large.

Do thy only come out at night. I never seen it during the day.

They move around constantly. May have just been hiding in rock work looking for food.

The star came out this morning. I finally got a good picture of it. The first picture I posted was one I found on the Internet. Well here it is. Is is a sand sifter or asterina? Is it safe to have?

Definitely asterina. It's fine. I would leave it.

Keep a eye on them. I had some Blue Daisy coral that they took a liking to.
