White string thing?

I also noticed this white tentacle looking thing. It first grew straight out, then bent back, attached to the love rock again and at the point where it was bent started growing out even longer.

Worms. I've got heaps in my Live Sand. They build little tunnels out of the sand. Quite cool. As far as I know there is nothing bad about them.

Not a worm, but just a sponge. They come in all shapes and sizes.

any specific type of sponge? i would like to do some reading on it.

Kurt is correct. I have the same thing in my tank. They can get fairly long too. I have not found a specific name for it except "sponge". If you remove it, It is a light pink in color. at least my sponge is.
