I just refilled my tank and added just a few drops of ammonia. The test was way off the chart. So I test my tap water. Its showing 2ppm. I'm using a liquide test kit and it checks out ok testing my other tank. Is this very common? Does the water company add every once in a while to treat the system?

So should I do pwc while the tank is cycling? I dont have any fish in the aquarium so I didnt think the nitrates would matter. I was planning on a 50% change when the cycle was complete.

My mickey mouse platty got stuck in a fake plant last night. This morning I got it free but now it just lays on the bottom and tries to swim. every once in a while it will take off but crashes to the bottom. Its now made it 12 hours but doesnt look any better. Looking for any advice. Thanks.
