    Bio-Spira

It's been a week since I've used it and my tank still has ammonia, no nitrites or nitrates.

    Eheim

Is there someone take to weaken the flow? I don't want to use an hob filter on my planted tank since it outgases the Co2 everytime the water evaporates under the output.

I think I will be going with the rings unless it costs a lot more. I have one more question, is an Eheim 2215 overkill on a 10 gallon?

    Eheim

How big are these ceramic rings? If I use floss and a sponge it doesn't seem like it would take up much space. Would I be using ceramic rings for the rest of the filter?

    Eheim

I was wondering what people put in them as filter media? There's floss and carbon, but since I don't want to constantly change out the carbon should I just use more floss or should I use a different media?

    Sponge Filters

I'll go to my LFS in within a few days so hopefully I can get one of those air pumps. Anyways I have another question. Are there suppose to be bubbles in the sponge? When I first put them in the tank, I squeezed out as much of the air in the sponge as I could, but when I woke up today, one of...

    Sponge Filters

I decided to use two sponge filters in my 46 gallon, but I'm not sure what air pump I should use. I've never used a sponge filter before. I had an old Elite 800 and I connected it to them both, but its not able to put enough air out. Since I have two sponge filters should I get an air pump rated...

    Bio-Spira

I decided to give Bio-Spira a try. I'm going to substitute ammonia for the angelfish though.

    Bio-Spira

I'm thinking about using Bio-Spira to cycle my 46 Gallon. Do you think it's a good idea? I'm thinking about housing a group of angelfish (Quarter to Silver Dollar size) in it. If you have had an experience with it please share whether it worked or not.

    any BGK owners?

You should also watch the angels. They might nip at the BGK. If you angels are a pair they may get really aggressive toward I. I heard you can tame them to eat from you hand.

    Clown Killifish / Pseudepiplatys annulatus

Has anybody ever kept them before? I went to the LFS today and saw one in a tank with some cherry red shrimp. They looked amazing!! I was looking at some pictures online, but they don't look as good as they do in person. I really want to get some, but I didn't know anything about them. Any...

    HC or HM

Thanks for the input, I think I will go get the plant, except I'm pretty sure it's much more than I need. I wonder if they would cut me off a small portion for a portion of the price :)

    HC or HM

Can anybody tell me some differences between them in their appearence? I think I saw some at my LFS in pots. 8.99 Is that a good price? It was in those black pots and rock wool. Anyways, I don't have a picture of the plant, but I'm going to look through around for some enlarged pictures so I can...

    Cloudy Water

I have tests for Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrates. Ammonia - 0 Nitrite- 0 Nitrates - 5-10 I use the AP Tests. It isn't algae on the glass. In real life the water is much cloudier than in the picture. Also it has gotten to the point that I can barely see the heater. I'm going to do a water...

    Cloudy Water

I got some cloud water, but I'm not sure what it is. Can you identify this? And does anybody know if there is a way to make the redish green plant in the middle not keep slanting forward?

    65w PC or 130w PC for a 20g long?

If you like a more whitish color go with 10000k, but if you like a more yellowish color then go with 6500k.

    65w PC or 130w PC for a 20g long?

If you get things set up tell me how things go. I've been planning a 20g L, but wasn't sure about going with 65w or 130w.

    BBA - help

Have you added anything to your tank recently? If you haven't added anything check your tap water if you use it do to water changes. Co2 normally lowers ph so I doubt it's the co2. Without Co2, what is your ph?

    BBA - help

Is your Co2 DIY? If it is, did you just recently add it? Try checking your PH. It might be fluctuating and stressing out your fish. I've had BBA outbreaks in my tank and it didn't kill any of my fish.

    Worm like things?

They look more like woms. And the seem to slide around on the glass. Not sure if that helps or not. Btw if my fish eat them, will it cause any problems? I can't really do gravel vacumming or I risk pulling up some of the plants. The well rooted plants I have no problem with, but microsword is a...

    Worm like things?

I was feeding my fish in my planted 10 gallon when I saw some tiny worm like things on the glass. At first I thought it was just some debris or something, but when I looked closer I saw it moving. I have no idea what it is. I tried taking a picture of it, but it so small. It's kind of clearish...

    carpeting plant for 10 gallon

I have a 10 gallon with 40 watts over it and currently I have microsword, dwarf sag, dwarf hairgrass, and glossostigma. As blazer said before, Dwarf sag does get a bit tall. It's the tallest of all my foreground plants, but it's doing the best so far. The microsword tends to have a problem with...

    New Background Plant

I'm looking for a new background plant for my 10 gallon any suggestions? I currently have Hygrophilia corymbosa "agustifolia" in the back, but the leaves get so long and the stems break the surface of the water every week. Even when I cut the stems in halves the stem seems to grow back rather...
