I have 8 baby princess cichlids in a 55 gallon for about 4 months now
There very shy/boring because they only come out to eat
Can I add any fish to help this ?

Have started a 55 gallon cichlid tank , atm there 2 albino makes and 2 blue/yellow males ... What else can I out with them ?

I Have a all male peacock tank which has been successfully running for 2 months now :)
But starting to get algae on the glass , which I wipe with every weekly change
Can I get fish or snails which won't die with the peacocks to help my algae problem ?
Or what's some other ways of getting...
Currently have tanks with peacocks and brichardi (princess cichlids )
And also have a tank from my sister which is full of 5 adult platys with about 4 generations of fry , with the most recent lot being born today ( all fish and water are healthy )
Would it be ok to use them for feeder fish...
Has anyone every had these ?

Just finished my 40 gal cycle , wanting to get some ciclids
Is it possible to get some breeding in a community tank ?
If not , any ideas would be great , what would you stock it with ?
It's sand bottom with lots of rock in piles/caves
A week into my seeded cycle and yesterday was the first time nitrites showed up at .25
Then today it was off the charts
Should I keep dosing at 3ppm ammonia everyday , or just dose every few days !?

Recently cycled my new 40 gallon tank which is almost ready for stocking , and am trying to get ideas what to stock it with
Currently have 5 platys which I will move over & I would really like a centre peice pair or group any ideas would be great :)
my friend is getting a tank in a couple of weeks and im going to run a big sponge filter in my established tank to give to him so it will hopefully speed up his cycle
whats the correct time period to get the good bacteria built up enough to give to him in the new sponge im adding in my tank ?
today I came home from work and noticed fry in my 15 gallon tank , it has 3 females and 2 male platys
i spent about 30 mins trying to catch them and put them in a breeder net and had no luck ! there so god dam fast , there's more the 5 in there but not to sure how many !!

I stocked with 6 platys I asked the guy at my lfs to give me 2 males and 4 females as I want them to breed
however when I got home and released into tank and finally got a good look , he actually gave me 3 males and 3 females

I have recently stocked my tank with
2 female guppies
1 male guppie
2 female platys
1 make platys
& I realise there going to breed hence why I got them
They are all fine together besides one male guppy won't stop following and what's seems to be pecking at one of the female platys , why...
Finally today turned 4ppm
Ammonia to nitrites to nitrates in 24hrs after a long 5 weeks
My nitrates are very high ATM , so what did I do now ?
Do a big water change to get them to 0 , then I'm all good to add fish ?
Or is there other things that need to be done ?
today was exactly 1 month and 1 day and after 3 weeks of nitrites of the charts and 2 weeks of 4ppm of ammonia going in 24 hours ( once this happened was only dosing 2ppm every few days )
my nitrates where 5ppm up until 3 days ago when they appeared at 40 , the next day 80 and then today...

currently 4 weeks into my fishless cycle and can turn 4ppm of ammonia to 0 within 24 hours no worries , but am having trouble as nitrites are still off the chart
For almost 2 weeks I have only been dosing every 3 days to see if my nitrites( off the chart) will drop and nitrates...
Been cycling my 16g tank with pure ammonia for 22 days now , after 12 days I could successfully turn 4.0ppm of ammonia to 0.25 in 24 hours , so then started dosing 2.0ppm every two to three days
On day 9 my nitrites spiked and seem to be off the chart and the following day my nitrates where...
today was my 17th day of my fishless cycle and my results where
ammonia=0 ( after dosing 24 hours ago to 2ppm )
Nitrites = off the charts , very dark as soon as its added goes dark purple
ph=7.8
Nitrates =5.0
why is my nitrates only 5.0 ?????/
