Re-posting with a more relevant title..

How much aeration does a crayfish in a 10 gallon tank need? Is a small internal power filter enough? Do external filters provide more oxygen? Should I supplement with some sort of bubbler? Does he need to be able to climb to the surface of the water?

Thanks guys!

He doesn't need to climb to the surface of water. More aeration is good but a small power filter is enough. Just make sure you have surface agitation. Oxygen is produced by surface current. A power filter provide more current than airstones. Place power filter that it disturbs the surface.
