55 cichlid tank

I have decides to get some real plants for my 55g tank, but I'm not sure what types of plants I should get. I only have a few fish, small and hearty cichlids. Any suggestions where to start?

Yeah, what mike said. Many cichlids are notorious for destroying plants.

I could never keep plants in my tank it just clogs the pump and makes a mess of things
