ammonia is high

my tank had ick and its on heat therapy right now i dont have any fish in there except the chinese algae eaters(2) and my ammonia is real high what should i do about it or should i just leave it be and cycle its self

How high is the ammonia? Do a water change to get the level down.

What method are you using to test the water? Strips or liquid reagent kit?

Do an immediate 50% water change and take a water sample to the lfs for testing with a liquid reagent kit. The strips are worthless IMO. They are highly inaccurate after they have been opened more than once. If it really is 8.0, your fish would either be dead or have noticeable gill damage.

i did save 5 baby guppies and they are doing good they are in a different tank what can i get to clean the bottom with they are in a 1 gallon right now going out today to get a bigger tank for them
