I just searched Amazon and you are correct.
50 foot Python $63. (not sure if that's Us dollars or AUS dollars)

on ebay, it was $222 Aus ....

Yeah that's in USD shipped within US. I don't know what that means for you down under.

Are they really that bad? Its quite cheap.
Python in ebay US is over $100.
Maybe better off making a diy with garden hose

If all you want to do is fill and drain your tank it will work ok. It will just drain slower than the python.

But it is almost worthless as a vacuum. It doesn't have enough suction.
