I had a what sounds like the same algae you have/ had. Thin long green hair like algae and the thing that worked with it was turning off my filter, do my water change, I took syringe and sprayed the H2O2 over the infected areas making sure not to go over the recomended amount, waited fifteen minutes, then refilled the tank, and turned on the pump. I had to do it two to three times and never saw it again since!

I'm workin on it James! Thanks for the tip! Guess I should have done that yesterday with my water change...

Yea no problem I figured this might be easier instead of spot treating make sure to read through all the steps and also mind your shrimp if you have any my amanos got through it though

Yeah, I've read through it like 3 times already... Did you use 2 or 4 tablespoons? It really worked for you?

I used the 2 tablespoon method and then a little extra just to make sure but I wouldn't go over 4 tablespoons just to be safe ... ohh boy it worked like a charm I basically was trying to kill the bba on the crypts and killed some more bba on other parts of the tank I had no idea were there, the bba turned a orange/red so you'll know it's dead or dying

Oh, and by the way, I believe I killed all the BBA. I noticed yesterday that it had finally all turned red. I nuked the tank with 2 tablespoons of h2o2 and then overdosed with a capful of excel daily for a week. I think I fixed my boo boo. Fish and shrimp seem fine. I'm only running the light 4 hours now, and that seems to be the sweet spot for me. I hardly had any algae on the glass or stones to clean this week.

Glad u got it gone and found that sweet spot I'm still trying to find the one for my 20. Almost there though. Oh and a big rimless would be awesome lol.
