Great idea! Australia came up in country list so fingers crossed - will try ordering tonight. Else maybe a quiet, small tank sounds good.

To cut a long story short, after leading a revolt against nutrients and the toxicity thereof I have to concluded that as far as plant go and fauna to a certain extent it is been difficult to prove. Instead, deficiencies are much more likely.

There are people still testing and some plants are definitely more finicky than others but these are more ‘specialist plants’, variations on a theme if you like.

There are people working on nutrient ratios too but their work now remains private even to others in the science group. I’m back on EI [emoji5] but only time will tell if Rotalas respond positively. Focus has been placed in co2 and flow as usual and I’m now using liquid carbon daily.

So far so good.

There is a suggestion at the moment that Rotala’s are responding positively to different forms of N. I’m going to try some ammonium hydroxide tonight 0.25ppm......scary [emoji316]

Interesting work! Saw your post on the glut effects as well which was also interesting to read through and great to see this work going on. Now on the Perth Cichlid committee here (I don't know how) so little time to do much (plus summer pool going). My aponogeton needs help though - will try and post a picture.

The price is good. Idly wondering what else I could get (shame tanks don’t come in flat packs). Might see what they have in the planted section on anything small and useful.

Hmmm - planter box and TDS meter tempting as well.

That's great news, glad I noticed it. I wanted to look through his stuff, got distracted and did not finish that yet maybe the end of the week. He has a couple shrimp food sample packs his own variety and another that look interesting, maybe can be sent to you/maybe not. Nice varieties, for the shrimpies even the small amounts they send will last a very, very long time for a little tank of them.

Much appreciated on this - fingers crossed. I sent back an email asking for shipping on planter boxes / ledges and also the TDS meter as have wanted one for ages.

I just picked up a TDS meter. Kinda an interesting gadget. I can definitely see how it would be helpful, but I haven't messed around with it enough to say by how much.

I’ve heard good things on TDS meters (alright, I just want one) but I’d be interested in seeing how much it changes between tap and different tanks. Hopefully it was a decent order and they come back as I’m guessing will be some running around for them. Fingers crossed else I’ll look at eBay I guess.

Funds transfer underway (postage not cheap!). Might take a bit of travel time but hopefully all done. Fantastic service from them.

In other news, another of the angelfish has bloat. Pretty convinced the pellets are not helping (too large but were free), so going back to my old high-quality brand this weekend. Hoping this one makes it, some stringy/white poop but still bloated.

The issue I think is too many of pellets too large and too quickly. With these barbs I’m finding all food will be gone as I’m putting the caps back on food bottles!. Whereas angelfish seem more dainty eaters.

Poor angelfish. Like having the worlds greatest fencer and they just get run over by a squad of charging rugby players :)

Lost the angelfish. Bloated around belly but also up into eyes and never recovered.

I’ve picked up smaller pellets and ended up getting 4 silver angelfish. Very small but tank is very stocked now.

Did a water change and soaking the fixed bridge in some water just in case of anything coming off glue. Plan to put it under bolbitis next weekend.

Congrats on the new additions. I am having Angelfish issues too. I still have more than I need but not trying to kill them of to get rid of them!

Will enjoy seeing a pic or 2 of course :brows:

I tried! But so far hanging around the back in the middle. Starting to explore around.

Yes, pretty disappointing to have ones lost like that. I've picked up new, smaller size pellet feed so hopefully that helps. I can believe the first one was egg-bound but really don't think the feed was helping with the large pellet size. Anyways, hopefully goes ok from now.

One of the spanner barbs had a white pimple on the eye when I bought it. Dosed a few times with Melafix and had a lucky win that I can't see it anymore (fingers crossed as hard to check all of them).
