If I bought a few bio balls from my lfs's tanks would that help speed up my cycle?

Ya, I just never heard of them floating in the water. The best spot for them is the filter. If they aren't in the filter I don't think they will help your cycling process.

Ok ill put them my filter. I have an aqueon quietflow 50. Where should I put them in there?

The aqueons have lots of 'empty' space in them. I would place them before the filter pad or in the empty space under the little overflow cover where the water comes in.

Are they good for already established tanks?

If your tank is already cycled, and established with beneficial bacteria, they don't do anything with the filter, leave it alone.
