Agree, as long as you have a good buffering capacity (KH) in your tank, 50% PWC are harmless and will not affect your pH drastically. Your fish will love the water changes. Many times you'll see them immediately trying to spawn. Some species of fish will not spawn unless water conditions are just right (nitrates, etc).

Case in point......my father in-law's convicts spawned immediately after a 50% water change on Sunday.
