Ideal tank size for parrot fish?

I have recently gotten a baby parrot fish that I have successfully healed from ich. He has been in quarantine for about 2-3 weeks now and I used the salt treatment, higher water temps and frequent water changes to heal him. Now he is very healthy and my mom is extremely attached to him (Clark). She would like to have a tank for him in her room by her desk so she can enjoy him while she works. She is currently looking for a tank and is interested in a 20-30 gallon, however I keep encouraging her to go for at least a 50 gal because parrot fish get so large.

She intends on keeping only him in the tank, perhaps a pleco or algae eater as well.

Any suggestions for a minimum tank size for him?

Blood Parrot Cichlid? I know nothing about them but a quick search says they need at least 50 gals by the time they are full grown, probably larger if you wanted to keep other fish as well with the BP, so you're correct:
