One way of getting rid of the algae would be to concentrate on your chaeto,if you give it more room and water flow and if possible give it some MH light for a month your algae will dissapear and your water will become crystal clear, just remember to cut it back and each month sqeaze handfulls of it out of your filter to release nutrients, this stuff works wonders

Go easy with the Kalk paste as it will not only raise your PH, it will raise your KH too. So monitor it as you go...

Whew...I'm tired now. :) I don't have pics just yet, but I hopefully spruced the tank up alot this afternoon.

I did a 15 gallon water change (like 40%), scrubbed some algae off the rocks, took out a couple rocks that were covered in hair algae and replaced with some dry rock I had, applied the kalk paste to a couple algae covered rocks (small ones), cleaned out my skimmer (it has been off because it was leaking) and will hopefully get it going again tonight, and the biggest thing: I hooked up the phosphate reactor that I have had for months and never hooked up. It is kind of rigged up, but its working.

There were still some stray strands of algae floating around and I got some of them with the turkey baster. I'll continue to get some out every couple days.

It will likely be Saturday before I can get some pics, but I will make sure I take alot of pics to add here. :)

Me too. Saturday is a good day to look at other peoples tanks...

Finally pics!

The FTS aren't what I hoped they'd be. Not as clear as I like, so I'm going to try again tomorrow. :)

4/8 are attached. :)

Your tank looks like it has a good start. You can see all the coralline algae seeding on the back of the tank. Every time my 5 year old sees a clownfish she reminds me that we are getting some of those... but it will be Dec/Jan before we get clownfish :(

Thanks! Yeah, I am finally starting to get some good coralline. I have alot of those little white round things on the glass....they kind of get on my nerves, but I don't put alot of effort into scraping them off.

Dec/Jan isn't that far away! She will have her Clownfish soon enough. :) I have 2 and they are cool guys. And man do that like to eat.

I have a good bit of rock that I've taken out and need to scrub and cure and put back in the tank. I couldn't just scrub it off....couldn't get it clean enough for my liking, so I let them dry out so I can hopefully scrub the algae off and then cure it for a couple weeks in the dark. Eventually I will get control over this algae!

More pics as promised. :) Flickr took away the links to pics so I can't post them in the thread anymore. Have to attach them in 2 separate posts. So, I will have posted 3 times in a row on here.

2 full tank shots, close up of my Acan, and my pink Plate (happier today).

Yeah, but the picture quality isn't as good IMO. Might just be me being picky though. For now I suppose I'll resize in flickr, then download and attach to a post.

Forgot to say above...click for bigger pics.

I got some new fish for the tank and have a thread here: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f44/tribal-blenny-hermits-snails-etc-131571.html#post1131680.

The fish both ate some mysis last night and are always out and about in their "perches" during the day. You can see their perches in the pics. :) Here is a pic of the Duncan coral (one of them) halfway open. Algae is still there but not going crazy again yet. I have ordered 2 new bulbs to replace the last of the Current brand bulbs. I'll do a 10g water change on Saturday.

Enjoy the pics!
