I have one Marineland Penguin 350 (soon to be replaced with an Emperor 400) and an Aquaclear 50. And the Marineland tube is about 4 inches above the substrate. Is that bad??

I was thinking black, last tank was planted with driftwood hence that choice in back ground, I will more than likely switch it to a black one and then post an updated picture.
