Hi quick stock check.

Have a 465litre subtropical tank 119 us gallons.

Is my stock OK?. This is it.

6fancies
2variatus platys
5danios
4miniows

Current filters

Ehiem classic 350 canister 620lphr
2× ehiem 2012 pickups internal 220-500 lphr
1 interpret Pf2 internal 500lphr

Will eventually get another canister and have only one internal filter

Fully stocked for me now. Not replacing temperate fish once they lived out lifespan. As eventually want goldfish only.

Just need to know I'm OK with this stock in my sized tank.
No intention of adding more. Have 2males 3female fancies 1 unknown due to age hoping another girl wanted a good balance of sexes.

Also any advice on waterchange schedule for this new large tank.

I use to do 50% weekly changes on a 42 and 27 gallon tank.

Thinking might be easier will this large tank to do 25-30% changes every 5 days

Things sound fine!! Start with the smaller wcs every 5 days and keep tabs on your numbers to see how this works out for you. You then can adjust your wcs as needed. Look forward to seeing pics of everyone's new home! :)

Hi

Did a 30% WC today. Gona do 25-30 on weds and Sundays. I do plan now not to replace the temperate fish and let them live out lifespan. May rehome when I'm left with two of the schooling fish. As I would like a Goldie only tank eventually. Here's some pics of my two new Goldie's and the tank. Still need to buy new lights, new hiding places more pebbles and eventually will get another canister so I can take 2 internal filters out. I'll keep one in for aeration. My calico ryukin is a grade B quality most expensive one I've brought the rest of average quality.

I put some side views up to give perspective its almost as big as my small two seater sofa. 4ft by 2ft by 2ft. Decor will change drastically in time. Still want bright colours but will get some smooth round stone hiding places for the platys and the little guys. Also to make it more moor friendly

Yeah no probs with the new ones. My fish are nice and fat and growing rapidly. I feed small meals 3times a day. They also got broccoli tonight. Spoilt lol. I think this tank would be harder to clean on a stand so I quite like it on the floor.

Hi Ive been doing waterchanges of about 25% every few days did one y.day and my nitrates are at 50. Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 pH 7.6. Today I tested water. Is this because of my stock? I am going to reduce my feeding as most are goldfish are over one now to 2 feeds a day. I will target feed the baby a third meal midday. Any help on how to reduce this nitrate down. I thought with a bigger tank I'd have less work to do but changeing 25% in a 465 litre is like 10buckets of water I doing this every 3days at mo. I do have a spare 27 gallon and a 42 gallon thinking of moving the schooling fish to their own 42. What would you recommend. Health wise everyones good tho

I just did a 50% water change today to try get nitrates down. Gona do another 50% tomorrow after work and clean my canister see if this helps. Then I'll retest water.
