I was thinking Cichlids. Have any idea how many I put in at first?

I don't know much about chiclids but I know they get really pissy when they want to breed.

What kind of cichlid??
There ones from Africa,America,South America.....
There are large(Oscars) and small(Apistos).
None should be mixed together so you should mention what you like so you can get help finding who can go with who......

Cichlids you say huh?

I'm not sure what type of Cichlids. Do you have any suggestions. I've been looking at the African. Peacocks and haps. But I'm wide open for suggestions.

Well you could get pretty much anything Chiclid with that tank size I like severums (SA) but if you want afircan chiclids I recommend doing a tank full of the them. These aren't chiclids but a group of 5 striped headstanders would be cool.

IMO mbunas are not a beginner cichlid especially in a 150.
Great size tank but may cost a little to stock properly if it is possible.
Malawis are why the fishless cycle was created....
They need to be 100%(Often even a little higher!) stocked on day ONE!
Tough task IMO.

Many colorful South/Central American cichlids that won't need immediate stocking or over stocking to enjoy.

That being said I know Brookster has been leading you well and looking for input from the members YOU really want to hear from on the SA/CA selection.
150... nice!
I got a 180 that is peaceful community fish...
Have you thought about plants?????

I have considered plants. I guess it depends on what type of fish I decide to go with. SA seems aggressive, love the looks of the SA! I have no idea what I like. Good thing is, I'm in no rush.

Ok, answer some of these so we can give you some better answers

-What are you looking for in the tank? (color, aggression, personality, tranquility, etc.)

-Are you on a tight budget? (For cichlids, you could be running anywhere from $2-100+ per fish depending on what you get and what size)

-Are you willing to wait a while? (Some fish take a long time to grow and show their true colors and attitudes; usually a couple months but some fish may take longer)

-Are you ok with losing money? (Through deaths of fish, and trading stuff back in)

one big question needs to be asked here. Is this a 4 foot or a 6 foot 150?
