Tank discoloration

Theplantedaquariumstore.com should have some pieces of manzanita I have also seen some on eBay.

Wow .. That looks nice! Where do you get it? And does it rot quickly?
 
+1 it's a hard wood that doesn't rot quickly and it's surprisingly light. It usually sinks within a week and I heard at some point that it doesn't even need to be boiled, but I would just in case. Also it releases virtually no tannins. I got mine at theplantedaquariumstore.com but they are my local LFS so I just go to their store. But they do sell online and ship.
 
I've also run wood through the dishwasher on the top rack (without any soap, and with the rinse aid turned off - and sans other dishes of course) on the hottest setting ("sanitize" + "pots and pans") in lieu of boiling. I think I heard about the idea on the forums here.
