If so you're talking 3 foot fish, ie needs a 300 gallon tank.

It's a spotted gar. Tiny , but I prob should get rid of it before he becomes a monster.

I thought it was a spotted. Monster is an understatement, at 3 feet they're capable of killing anything, plus need giant tanks. They're also not very aggressive by nature except to food which can result in bullying by cichlids. My best advice is to return him immediately. They honestly have no place in the aquarium trade.

It's going back tomorrow. Bought it at a big box store, Last time I buy fish there. I would assume they wouldn't even carry fish like this

What type of filter system is that?

It's two fluval 306 filters. For a 55g tank it's over filtered.
