You could put some gravel in the bottom, that way the babies can hide. Only problem is then you gotta find and catch babies before you can move the gravel around.

i have one of those!! they are VERY effective. i actually stripped my female in there, put her in the adult tank and kept the babies in it. when the yolk sack was gone i gave them tetramin powder stage 3, they eat it fine since my zebra fry were big enough.
u shld consider stripping, she may be needing food more than you know and could nom a baby or six. lol jks good luck!x

Thx and she is still holding. Wish shed spit shes skinny and im sure very hungry... The babies look big enough but what do i know lol

My lab had her kids !!!!!!! 9 of them !!!! I'll post pics later !!!

they look very developed! they need food straight away, no leaving them for a few days.
and cichlidlife, do u mean u dont know how to strip? i can guide u, or u just dont know when to? xxx

Yeah I didn't know but she jus spit them out what should I feed them n also I'm at school right now n I left some crunch flakes for them buy is tht gonna be ok till I get home ??

that might be alright, when u say crunch flakes does that mean finely crushed flakes? they have to be borderline powdered, but it will be fine for the while. they should have something more specialised like tetramin stage 3 which is great for cichlid fry, mine had it, or an nls variant of fry food.
i also found they liked very tiny amounts of mashed up egg yolk when they were about a week to 2 weeks old, then at 3 weeks i gave them tetra colour enhancing ring flakes, they eat it to this day. their jaws were strong enough to get chunks off etc. what do the adults have? anything powderable?

I am going after class around 4 to get correct food for the babies but u sure they'll be ok till than ???

yes. calm down :)
if they are that hungry, they will go for the flakes. remember how they would have to fend for themselves in the wild? theyr hardy little things, gotta respect that.

Thanks for the advice can't u tell this is my first time haha

no probs, my first time stripping (FISH!!) came 5 weeks ago :p
i presume shes back in the regular tank? is she getting enough food? x

Well I put flakes in her tank n ahe didt eat em hah

So maybe wen I feed blood worms tonight shell eat em

this must be the time of year for these fish cause ive had 2 of these fish i randomly selected from my LFS for almost 9 months now, and i believe one is now holding!!! its strange cause i just read this thread the other day think, "wow its be cool to see this happen to mine" and here it is... so neat!

just wondering if im overacting or if my fish is actually holding?
