Is this a starfish? I have some zoas that have been receding for a little bit. I need some coral rx. I was inspecting it to see if I could find anything. This was balled up and I thought it was a snail shell but it flattened out and looks like a star now. It was wrapped around a zoa polyp.

An Id and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yep, that's a star. I've heard about some that will eat zoas, but keep in mind if the zoas were dying that starfish are scavengers and could be just cleaning up the issue. Keep an eye out for others munching away or dip your corals into some coralrx
