Slime/skin material in Canister Filter

I seem to have some type of translucent skin like material shooting out of the return bar of my canister filter. It's not over wheeling the tank but the fish are snacking on it. Should I be concerned?

I cleaned out the filter very well before installing it a while ago and it's only been running with fish in the tank a week. I know this happened in my last tank several years back before I had to relocate but it did not harm the fish...

So, instead of guessing, anyone know what it may be?
