I have a candy cane coral that keeps spitting out white web-like stuff and seems to be damaging other corals near it. Is there something irritating it or do i just need to move it away from everything else?
Sounds like acontia (mesenterial filiments), the offending or offended (depends on your POV) corals are too close. LPS corals should be a minimum of 6" from other corals, most are capable of putting out acontia and sweeper tentacles. In sps acontia is a feeding response, I suppose it could be here although I think it is more defensive.
