I have a energetic orange diamond goby that churns the sand thru his gills for hours at a time. I also have a small school of yellow canary wrasses. I noticed that, one at a time they will follow the goby right by his tail and pick off morsels too small for him to catch. He thinks they are trying to clean him, but they're just freeloading. I thought it was pretty cool behavior and wonder if it happens in the wild.

That's kinda funny, cause i just noticed my citron goby follows around my scooter as he scoots up food off the sandbed after feeding and theres always a swirl of food the scooter doesnt get. LOL I thought it was just me.

I have become fascinated with these canary wrasses. They never stop moving and are always front and center. They have a cool face as well. They carefully inspect the rocks and in between the polops, while never disturbing the polops. Never had any before, I guess they don't import them as much as they are from the Coral Sea.

Some pictures from my iPhone. Will do better ones when I have time. All this is growing under LEDs in a 18 year old 300 gallon reef.

Wide shot of the 300. I built it to have a three sided front. It wraps a corner in our front room.
Note that the mushrooms organized themselves, the blue ones are on the left and the red ones dominate the right half of the tank. I didn't do that.

Looks great Greg,.....gotta love the mushrooms

what coral is that in the first picture? well the first picture in the second set of pictures lol

It's a variety of brown starburst polyp that has gone crazy. I vary the circulation every 2 minutes with a pair of the #8 Magnum fans and the whole head sways like a head of hair. Some polyps are over 10" long.

Nice, loving the octospawn (if that's what it is) I so want one! Did you build your house? or build the tank in after you bought the house??

The house is relatively small and 12 sided, is located on a 45% hill full of trees. I built the tank to fit the center of the house. It is the focal point from all rooms.
The algae scrubber, 100 gallon sump, custom protein skimmer and chiller are located in a room in the basement. 2" flexible PVC pipes run thru the floor to service the tank. Everything is now lit by LED replacing over 2000 watts of metal halide.

It is a piece of frogspawn I bought as a frag from the LFS. It was only 3 polyps when I planted it there on the corner. It's the size of a softball now.

Is that a torch coral in one pic? Tank is awesome. How many tangs you have? Oh and that is cool behavior. Maybe like in nature. The more like nature, the better!

Gorgeous tank man. I wish I had the space for a larger tank but our floor won't support something that big with structural work so gonna have to wait till the wife is done grad school and we move. It is a wonderful looking job.

Yes, it is a green torch. It has been adding heads, only been in the tank about 4 months.
I have 4 Tangs, 3 yellow and 1 Sail fin.
I had to install a steel beam in my floor to take the weight.
