Hi I'm new to saltwater and have noticed like a patch almost looks like a burn on my polyps coral any ideas

Do you have any corals close to it that may be burning it? Any fish or inverts that may be nipping at it?

I have 1 damsel fish and a hermit and a sandshifting star and that one coral all water parameters are good??

A burn? Do you have a pic you can show? And by "good" parameters, what are the actual numbers?

If your parameters are good and the rest of the coral looks good an healthy thn my guess is the fish or crab is going after it....

None of the tank's inhabitants are likely candidates for picking on this coral. A picture would really help.

Daisy Polyps! Great coral to start with.

Don't see a burn though, just some retracted polyps at the top-- not uncommon.
