Problem algae

I recently posted a problem about a certain hair algae growing on my live rock amongst the polyps. I was told that I could remove it with a small pipe brush, but how exactly will it stop it from growing, I cannot remove it all. Is there another way to do this, chemical?? fish??

Lawnmower blenny will eat it. But I tend to shy away from recommending fish to rid of problem items in the tank just incase they have a hard time converting diet.

Scrubbing it off will help as it will remove a significant amount of it. basically just like weeding a garden. The more you pull up the less there is to grow.

You could also get some macro algae and put that in the tank. The macro will compete with the hair alge for nutrients and thus hopefully eliminate it.
