Water top offs

What is a reasonable amount to have to top off? It seems I'm topping off about a gallon a day on my 55 gal. tank. Does that seem like too much?

Thats about right. Alot will depend on if you run a sump or wet/dry and how much surface water movment you have as well as if you have your tank covered or uncovered as far as a glass top.

An uncovered tank that has fairly ample surface movment and a sump could easily evaporate 1 gal a day per 50gal of tank capacity.

I get close to a gallon of evaporation on a 20g tank

My 55gal get about 2-2 1/2 gals per day.

Man, I feel better now. I only replace 1 gal a day on my 75gal. 2.5 gal would get old real fast.

I replace 5 gallons a day in my 100 gallon. Thats what kind of evaportation you get from 400 watt metal halides.
