Hi all
I'm setting up my 10 gallon again as a fully planted tank. For the stock I was thinking the following. I will also be getting them in this order.
3 Guppies
1 Dwarf Gourami
6 neon tetras
3 otos
1 GBR
I know it might be a little overstocked but it will be heavily planted and water changes will be done weekly. So let me know what you think. Thanks :fish2:

I suggest not even putting a GBR with DG in a 10 gallon. Both GBR's and DG's need there own space. You need small fish in a 10 gallon (i.e. school of guppies or neon tetras) . Otocinclus need algae. Mine will eat the wafers and leftover food but I try to still provide algae for him to eat.

Thanks for the input. That's why Im putting the otos in later (month or two) once there is algae. I have researched about the dg and gbr being together and I feel they will be fine together.

Good luck! May the fish force be with you.

You need to do more research if you think a Ram can thrive in a 10g. With other fish.

They need real estate for territory. 20g are minimum sized tanks recommended for them.

They need much warmer water than most fish like. They need soft water.

Larger tanks are also easier to keep stable and clean. These are not beginner fish. They can also hit 2.5-3" AFAIK. In a 10g if the Ram gets feisty the DG has no place to get away.

Rams also need a well established mature tank.

I hope you continue your research and make better stocking choices in the future.

For 10g tanks I prefer Nano species and Shrimp. This is one of my 10g tanks.

Thanks Coursair well said! I have had 2 GBR's and 1 DG in a 20 gallon embarrassing enough as it is and I personally have seen their behavior. Nobody was comfortable and everyone was on guard. It made me uncomfortable to watch.

Well I have five years of fish keeping experience and know how sensitive gbr's are. But it does make sense that they could give the dg trouble in a small tank. So in the long run it wouldn't be good for both in there. Even just a gbr for that matter. Can anyone tell me anything about scarlet badis???

They're tiny and eat live food.

No, they are best in a species only tank..

Oh that's right I saw that. What about a peacock grudgeon? I haven't been able to find much on them.

Perfect! Start a colony with a pair in that 10..
