Lighting during cycling

I would like to start cycling and i wanted to know if i would need lights. I haven't purchased any yet.

You don't need the lights to cycle the tank. I had them, and I just left them off during the cycle to prevent algae.

If I may ask a question, do you know how many hours per day I would leave the lights on if cycling with plants?

8 hours is a decent photo period which can be adjusted based on algae growth.
