whats better sand or gravel?? cuz i wanted to get sum white sand but i think the siphon might suck it up so yeah

You don't dig the syphon into the sand like you do gravel.
What I do to clean my sand bottom tank is take airline hosing, and hover it just above the surface and its usually enough to pull the gunk off the bottom while leaving the sand.
Sand looks nicer, to. IMHO, specially sands like Tahition Moon Sand.

I have red Carribian ultra fine sand and as long as I don't dig through the gravel it doesn't get sucked up.
