My mom has an SAE in her 10 gallon (along with 3 danios and 3 BFT) and he's doing very well. He's possibly past 2" at this point, but if so then just barely. Obviously they can get up to 6" and maybe bigger and become semi-aggressive when they mature, something not suited for a 10g with tiny passive tankmates.
My mom refuses to let me set up my 50g in my college townhouse, but I know the SAE is going to need a bigger home pretty soon.
My questions are:
When would he need to be moved from the 10g?
When would he need to be moved from a 20g?
Would he be happy&healthy in a 30g with a betta, otos, corys, and /maybe/ a unique suckermouth like a Royal Farlowella or Upsidedown cat?

Is say he's pushing it in a 10g right now. You could probably house him for another inch in a 20 and then it'd be up to a 55.

Yikes, alright. Good thing I have one of those sitting in my garage!
