I remember reading somewhere that pond snails at the waterline was an indication of some sort of imbalance in the tank but I can't really remember. Just wondering since my snails seem to like it up there (Though there are certainly plenty who don't)

Depends on the type of snail. Some snails are semi-aquatic and come to the surface to breathe or lay eggs.

mine stay at the waterline as well. They don't always do that, some are always going through the substrate, up and down and walls. I think they just come up to breath once in awhie.

Ok, I won't worry about it then. There's definately tons that aren't up there. Thanks :)

i once kept some snails common snails in with some tadpoles i caught.

i didnt know it at the time, put i guess pine or oak leaves are really poisonous in water, the snails climbed out of the water while everything died...
