I am thinking of doing a Brichardi tank. Now by species tank does that mean that one species is dominant or is that the only species in the tank. I don't know. :fadein:

xray - I reccomend the brichardi tank, I have a breeding colony of 5 adults and 50+ fry and it's one of my favourite tanks. Its neat watching the fry from an older spawn looking after their younger brothers and sisters.

Advantage, you can set up the perfect environment for a single fish.

Disadvantage, you only get a single species.

Might I suggest a biotype?

Hehe. Isn't it a "biotope?"

I have a species-only puffer tank, and I still enjoy the little guys immensely.

Most ppl do keep maintenance fish in a species-only tank. Plecos, otos, amano shrimp... that sort of thing, as long as they aren't threatened by the main species. I keep large amanos in with my dwarf puffers. No shame in it.
