substrate for qt

I was wondering if it would be okay to run a bare bottom qt tank or would the fish be better off with substrate?

you usaually want a bare bottom tanks for QT

A bare bottom tank is easier to sterilize, and leaves parasites (if thats what one is treating for at the time) no place to hide.

I have a 10g QT tank. I painted the back and bottom black so that the fish would feel more secure in the empty tank. It works very well and looks sleek and kind of cool

That seems like a really good idea maybe I'll just end up taping some dark paper to it, to get a similar effect till I can get some paint.
