I was wondering if it would be okay to run a bare bottom qt tank or would the fish be better off with substrate?

*nods and agrees*

A bare bottom tank is easier to sterilize, and leaves parasites (if thats what one is treating for at the time) no place to hide.

I have a 10g QT tank. I painted the back and bottom black so that the fish would feel more secure in the empty tank. It works very well and looks sleek and kind of cool :)

Bare bottom it is then. :D

That seems like a really good idea maybe I'll just end up taping some dark paper to it, to get a similar effect till I can get some paint.
