sump set up

hello all just got my sump set up so i can turn it on can i take the filter media out of my fluval 403 and stick it in the sump with the other bits so it will grow on to the new media ? if you get what i mean so i can turn the 403 off ?

As long as you move the media in the Fluval you should be able to turn it off and just use the sump. Good luck.

What size tank do you have? Not a lot people use sumps for freshwater tanks. Do you have fish in the tank?

the tankk is 6ft x 2ft x 2ft with 2 plecos and about 20 - 30 small fish the sump is 3ft x 17 inch x 15 inch

Apologies for the stupid question but can someone please tell me what a "sump" is or point me in the direction of something I can read? Thanks!

sump is a tank underneath the main tank acting as a filter if you get what i mean

i never used a powerhead tho to get the water out of the tank
