yes, it is possible. see, i have this guy running in my bedroom and to be quite frank, i dont want to lsiten to that glub glub sound all night! so, what i do is pretty easy: i take off the right suction cup and throw the left dial all the way open. the water is now steady, completely submerging the foam. the noise is much less now and i can rest easily. in the morning, i just go through the set-up motions, which take usually 1 minute tops, and the filtrer is back to its glub, glub state with the water pulsing up and down in the chamber. its pretty cool. plus, at night, its much less noisy than the penguin 200 i had running in there. hth.
