I did leave out the kid friendly part. Most aquatic turtles aren't because they live in water most of the time and aren't use to being handled. Mine I don't trust at all with my kids but I never get him out myself. The more a turtle is handled the better chances you have. My sister has a land turtle for school (she is a 3rd grade teacher) and it is fine with kids. However I don't trust any of them. When I got mine shipped to me I thought it wanted to take my hand off. They have supper long necks and can reach a long way. Mine can reach half way back along its shell if not more.

A 29 gallon isn't that big IMO but I think it does need a little bigger of a tank then what it says on that site.
How about frogs? Most reptiles get big and need big tanks.
