yes, that's whats in my current reef-in-the-making, lave rock from hawaii

I have 5 or 6 pieces under my live rock in my temporary tank (until I pick up my 65 gallon on Friday). It will then be used as the base for the live rock in the new tank. I did that on my 150 when I had that too. It works fine and you can't even see it so it doesn't really matter what is there. Some people just use PVC underneath.
