Live rock

I am wondering whether I can add live rock a bit at a time would this work if I have fish in my tank?

It's best to add all the rock work at one time. If not, make sure the rock has cured before you put it in the tank or you could see ammonia spikes.

Sure you can, as long as its all fully cured live rock, you can add as much or as little as you want.
If its not cured, then you can run into it giving off ammonia from die off, and may cause mini cycles.
