I need a little help with choosing a filter for my tank. I have a 62 gallon tank i want to set up with live rock and soft corals and a few fish. I want to use a canister filter but how many lph should it do and do i or will i need any thing else for water flow.

If you have enough LR and you don't need a cannister filter. The LR will do the filtration for you. Add Protein skimmer and your good to go. A sump would also be a good addition.

Do you want a fish only tank or are you thinking of adding some coral down the line? If you want coral you should probably stay away from the cannister filters too. Cannister filters although good at ammonia an nitrate reduction will breed nitrate. That's bad for coral and most inverts.
