10 gal Divided Betta Tank- stocking?

Hello! I have a ten gallon that I'm considering dividing in half to house a male betta on each side. I currently have one guppy and two small panda garras in it. I know I can't have a guppy with a betta because they're too flashy and colorful- I would have the guppy on one side and a betta on the other until the guppy dies or I give it away. I would either split up the panda garras or put both together and alternate which side they're on.

What other fish could I have with a betta in a 5 gal space? I like neons, but I can have a small school on either side of the divider? I'm not crazy about shrimp, but if my LFS has pretty ones I would consider that. Any suggestions?

I would get a 10 gal divider from petsmart.

i think neons would be good you could do 4 on each side

I did a little research- not sure if I would do this, but I saw that you can have khuli loaches with betta fish on one site. Is that right? I saw 'golden kuhlis at petsmart the other day.
