Adding Snails During Cycle

I began cycling my water on Monday. I have two Emerald cory catfish in there now. I have been keeping a close eye on toxin levels. Yesterday, I got an old filter cotton thing from my sister's tank so I am hoping that adds bacteria to the cycle. I put the old filter in my filtration system yesterday. My sister keeps a goldfish tank and has two ivory snails. She wants to get rid of the ivory snails because the goldfish keep nipping at them and she wants me to add them to my tank. Can I do this or will it throw off the toxins in the water?

I would wait until the tank has cycled. Most inverts don't do well in cycling tanks.

Do you know how long it will take for my tank to cycle now that I have the old filter media?

Cant say. It depends how much media you get, the size if your tank, how far along your cycle is, etc, etc, etc. Every tank is different.
