I have had this happen with other fish. I am not sure what causes it, but mine did not live long after this happened.
 
Unless the fish has obviously something stuck in its mouth, then all you can do is 'wait and see'...if the mouth has taken any significant damage (causing it to be stuck open), it ptobably will not heal in time for the fish to feed again before it expires.
 
I had to put her down because she couldn`t eat or breath well. She was at the top of the tank sucking air so hard I thought it was my Loaches clicking. :cry: I`d still like to know what cause it. She had nothing stuck,i looked with a magnifying glass.
 
I had this occur to one of my Bala sharks. I never did get an explanation for it other than jaw lock and there was no cure for it (even taking it out and massaging would not help).
