Adding on to sump

I have a crude pic drawn up on how to add to my current sump. I'm very limited on space but need to upgrade the size of my skimmer. Think this will work?

To clarify the tank to the right with the refugium is existing and can not move. The one on the left will be a 37 gal Rubbermaid container
