I have a 5 gallon tank that I have started cycling so that at somepoint I can put a betta in it. it does not have a hood and I've heard that bettas are jumpers and water from the filter can splash out. I have limited money/resources/skill but is there an easy way to make a lid for the tank? I want to be able to make something that won't look too ugly if I don't do it perfectly.
If your tank has a rim you can get a piece of glass cut to size lengthwise and a little shorter on the width, so you have a small gap at the rear side of the tank to run your heater, filter wires air stone tubing, etc.
Shouldn't be too expensive, I paid ~3 bucks for mine at a window shop
