how to make a sump

Ok so I'm kind new to all of this stuff and I was wondering if having a sump would help me all that much

Depends on the tank size and what you plan on keeping in it.

It's a 20 gallon and I plan on having 2 true clownfish and the clean uo crew and an anemone and some corals

A sump would be a great way to add more water volume to that small tank. Anemones require perfect conditions to thrive. I'd highly suggest getting a sump if you can.

If you ever want to build one, then look up sumps that are made by manufacturers such as Eshopps. There are flaws to most manufacturer sumps because they try to do a one-fits-all types of setups. The reviews on those will tell you a lot and you learn how to make your own just by seeing how they work. Then read about other people's sump. Good luck.

The distance between the top of your DT tank to the top of the waterline of your sump.

Probably a good 3 feet right now

If you're not using a skimmer, I'd probably get a mag 3 if it can fit into your 10g sump. That'll give you ample flow for the corals you want to keep as well. A mag3 at 3' of headloss gives 300gph:

Ya its either have a sump or a qt which is what il probably do cause one of my fish have ich
