I currently have a freshwater cichlid 50 gallon tank and a koi and goldfish pond. I've had fish of one kind of another for 30 years amongst various rescue cats, dogs and birds. I've read many threads already on this forum that I've found helpful. My tank consists of two blood parrot cichlids, convicts, peacocks and a very dominant and aggressive red zebra cichlid I've had for 5 years. I've also realized plecos make more of a mess than housekeeping and am rejoining mine. I live in a rural area with only Petsmart (ugh) and a couple of small pet stores. I have learned my lesson several years ago about buying very young cichlids in a mixed tank. They are often misidentified. This is how I ended up with my tank bully, the red zebra!
